59th International Auctioneers Conference & Show

The week of July 7-12, auctioneers from the across the world will travel to Tennessee for the 59th International Auctioneers Conference & Show. This year’s conference will take place at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel and Nashville Convention Center. The “home of country music” will play host to over a thousand auctioneers celebrating one of the most exciting professions and world’s fastest growing industries.

Highlights of this year’s action-packed conference include a private concert opening night with country music stars Diamond Rio and competitions for the world’s best male and female auctioneer, as well as the top junior auctioneer and “ringman.” In addition to entertainment and competition, the conference provides auctioneers with a range of educational seminars and forums to advance and grow their businesses. Over 50 programs will be provided this year and range from introducing technology into one’s auction business, to managing the dramatic growth of real estate auctions in the United States. Conference attendees will also be provided with the largest trade show in the history of the conference.

The Ministry of Environment (MET) and Tourism will conduct a wildlife auction of rare and high-demand game species from State-owned game parks later this month.

The auctions take place every two years. An auction held by MET in 2006 earned over N$9.2 million which was deposited in the Game Products Trust Fund (GPTF).

A complete auction catalog will be released soon. Inventory updates are available at www.moniker.com/liveauction . The final catalog will include approximately 2,000 of the best geo-focused domain values for sale in the extended online auction. Of that list, only the top 250 names will make it into the live domain auction.

In-Person and Online Bidding Opportunities Available

GeoDomain Expo attendees are automatically eligible to attend the private live auction. Bidders not attending can place bids live online through SnapNames Live(TM), an integrated live and online auction platform developed by SnapNames(R), another Oversee.net company. Interested bidders may also submit an absentee bid form to the auctioneer, or sign up for telephone proxy bidding.

Moniker will also host an extended online auction in conjunction with the live event in Chicago, offering thousands of additional names for sale. The online auction will begin on Saturday, July 12 and continue through Thursday, July 17.

Xu Beihong Painting Auctioned to Support Beijing Paralympic Games

“Galloping Horses”, a painting by the famed Chinese artist Xu Beihong, was auctioned on Monday for 8 million yuan (1.14 million U.S. dollars) to support the Chinese athletic team taking part in the September Beijing Paralympic Games.

The painting was the first sale in a charity auction held by the China Disabled Persons Federation (CDPF).
