Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Wireless Spectrum Auction

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has held a tender for wireless local loop (WLL) spectrum licences for Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and the country’s northern areas (NAs). In the tender for 3.5 GHz spectrum for Mirpur (TR-1), one block was taken by PTCL at the highest bid of PKR 10 million, while the other was withdrawn because there was no second bidder. For Muzaffarabad (TR-2), PTCL made the highest bid of PKR 4 million, followed by Wateen which matched the price. For the northern areas (TR-3), Wateen offered the highest bid of PKR 4 million, and the second block went to PTCL for the same price. A total of PKR 26 million was collected in the auction of five WLL licences in three regions.
