Pink Diamond Auctioned

Published October 11th, 2008

A pink diamond ring has been sold at Bonhams & Goodman for $444,000 (including b buyers’ premium), smashing its presale estimate of $265,000-295,000 and setting a new Australian auction record for a pink diamond.

The ring features one of the finest pink diamonds ever mined in Western Australia, a magnificent and extremely rare Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink diamond weighing 1.02ct, and was designed by prestigious jewellery house Asprey. This beautiful piece of jewellery is the most valuable jewellery item ever sold by Bonhams & Goodman and achieved the highest price ever realised for a finished piece of jewellery in Australia. Its price surpassed that of a stunning Fancy Yellow Intense diamond ring that was sold by Bonhams & Goodman for $402,600 (inc buyers premium) in June, 2008.
