The Indian government is thinking of launching a new online trading platform for the raw material ore under National Mineral Development Corp (NMDC). The platform would be similar to the successful e-auction platform being operated by Coal India for the past few years. The move is aimed at meeting both long- and short-term iron ore requirements of steel companies and giving them an alternate platform to get assured supply of the raw material.
