CHICAGO - Ocean Tomo Auctions today announced that it will offer for sale a patent portfolio directed to the field of wireless communications at The Ocean Tomo 2008 European Live IP Auction. US Patent 7,092,370 and related IP, which disclose a system and method for redirecting a communication session from a data-based session to a voice-based session and vice versa, will be offered by Roamware, Inc. and inventors Yuen Jun Jiang and Hisao M. Chang as Lot 29 at The Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam on 26th June.

Due to the multitude of services available on mobile phones – including email, text messaging, and internet access – users frequently utilize the services but may be inconvenienced when forced to end their current service to initiate a new one. The invention disclosed in the ‘370 patent overcomes this shortcoming by allowing a user to switch services during a communication session.

The invention facilitates the crossover from one service to another using interactive voice response (IVR). The user can begin a communications session by placing a call, and can then navigate the IVR system to be sent requested information via an alternative data channel such as a text message. Potential licensees of this portfolio include wireless communication service providers and wireless equipment manufacturers.
