Barack Obama waffle painting eBay auction

An artist’s rendering of the waffle left over by Sen. Barack Obama in Scranton sold for $90 Tuesday, giving auction winner “dodo330” a slice of the Electric City’s memorable part played in the Democratic presidential primary process.
But as with political pundits’ interest in Pennsylvania, the nation appears to have lost its appetite for collectibles and keepsakes of Mr. Obama’s half-eaten waffle and sausage link.
Dan Lacey, who painted “Memories of Barack Obama’s Breakfast,” said the waffle painting outperformed other art pieces he has auctioned through eBay. It garnered 20 bidders, 33 bids and a whopping 7,000 page views, and made newspaper headlines as far away as Australia and the United Kingdom.
“Compared to other things I’ve sold, it sold pretty well,” said Mr. Lacey, Minnesota author of the Christian cartoon “Faithmouse.” www.thetimes-tribune.com
