Maurice Shadbolt Art Collection Sale at Webbs

A collection of art owned by the late New Zealand writer Maurice Shadbolt is to go under auction next week.
Shadbolt, who died in 2004, built the collection over nearly four decades, the collection includes paintings by Michael Smither, Eric Lee-Johnson, Don Binney and Colin McCahon
Several of the works in the collection by Smither were published on the covers of Maurice’s books.
Webb’s, who are auctioning the art, say the collection – which includes paintings given to Shadbolt by the artists as tokens of friendship – are being sold on behalf of this five children.
