Town of Oakland Sold on Internet Auction

Published March 31st, 2008

Oakland, Florida – Last summer when the Town of Oakland had surplus items stacking up everywhere the call went out for an auctioneer. Town officials knew it was time to hold an auction and turn their overflowing surplus into cash. After careful consideration they chose to pursue an Internet Only Auction. This wise choice produced results far above their initial expectations. When the online event was over, local bid winners lined up to pick up their great buys as well as bid winners from as far away as Merritt Island and Naples. Items were even sold to out of state bidders in Ohio and California.

The time has come for another auction. David D. Hansen, auctioneer for Hansen Auction Company, announced that his firm has been authorized by the Town of Oakland to conduct another government surplus sale. This event will again feature an Internet Only format with all bidding done online for a variety of items to include tools, office furniture & equipment, computers, ice machine, industrial equipment and much more.

“Last year was a huge success” said Hansen, “and this year the total amount up for auction has increased by about 60 percent”. Internet Only Auctions provide the buyer the comfort of bidding from home and only scheduling time to pick up the item if they are the successful high bidder. Still one of the biggest benefits for buyers is getting their bids placed without having to attend the auction in person. “When people come to pick up their items they are quick to tell us how much fun they had bidding in the auction” said Hansen, “and they want to know when the next one is going to happen.“

Due to the ever increasing role of Internet Only Auctions the National Auctioneers Association recently began offering a special designation focusing on this type of technology. “We are still one of only a handful of companies in Florida that focus almost exclusively on Internet Auctions”, said Hansen, both a member of the National and Florida Auctioneer’s Association. “What amazes people is how much information we can provide on the items in the sale”, he continued. “We regularly feature videos of equipment in operation and special information packets so bidders can feel comfortable bidding on larger items”. The Internet has made the convenience of shopping from home even easier. With Internet Only Auctions the best deals you have ever found may only be a mouse click away.

Bidding for the Town of Oakland Internet Only Auction is open now and lasts until 7:00pm on April 9, 2008 at www.HansenAuctionOnline.com. The date and times for property inspection are listed on the website as well. David D. Hansen is a licensed auctioneer and a Certified Estate Specialist.
