Bidders can buy cars, trucks and vans from the State of Illinois - March 29

Published March 28th, 2008

Springfield – Bidders from all over the country can log-on this weekend to find a bargain vehicle from the State of Illinois. 93 vehicles from the State’s fleet, police cruisers and confiscated vehicles will be auctioned off online and in real-time Saturday, March 29 beginning at 9 a.m.. The event is part of the Department of Central Management Services’ (CMS) ongoing effort to raise revenues by selling items no longer needed by the State.

A large variety of vehicles will be auctioned including Dodge vans, Ford Taurus sedans and pick-up trucks. Bidders must look closely at all the photos and descriptions as the vehicles are sold “as-is”. Bidders can check out the vehicles now at www.proxibid.com, but in order to make a bid you must register with a valid driver’s license and credit card.

“The success of the state’s first on-line auction system, iBid (www.ibid.illinois.gov) has proven that surplus sales across the internet continue to result in higher returns for the State’s surplus property,” said Acting CMS Director Maureen T. O’Donnell. “Selling vehicles in a live internet auction from the warehouse parking lot is the next step in this evolution.”
