One of the highlights of Tennants Spring 2008 Catalogue Sale will be an exceptional eight day coromandel wood Marine Chronometer, signed Victor Kullberg, 105 Liverpool Rd, Islington, London, No.4656, 1887 and estimated to sell for £7,000 – £9,000.

chron1.jpgVictor Kullberg (1824-1890) was described as “One of the most brilliant and successful horologists of the 19th century”. This Marine Chronometer was commissioned by Captain Robert Townley Parker for his steam yacht “The Lady Beatrice” and delivered on 23rd October 1887 whilst she was berthed at Victoria Dock, London. It is being sold together with a copy of the typescript of Kullberg’s day book recording the purchase and sale of the present eight day chronometer, listing the delivery time of six months and the original cost of £60.
