Albany Printing Plant Auction

Published January 31st, 2008

After three failed attempts to sell the former William Boyd Printing Co. plant in downtown Albany, N.Y., the owner wants to try a different tack: auctioning the buildings and land.

The company has asked U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert E. Littlefield Jr., to let Collar City Auctions Realty & Management conduct the auction, according to a court filing.

The former printing plant is located at 39-49 Sheridan Ave., behind the Hampton Inn & Suites on Chapel Street.

If approved, the auction would be held Feb. 29 at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center.

A Feb. 6 hearing has been scheduled to consider the request.

An auction “appears to offer the best hope of achieving the highest price for the property” and is supported by all parties in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding, attorney Robert J. Rock wrote in a Jan. 29 motion.
