Woodland Ferry auction postponed
Published January 14th, 2008
The auction of the 47-year-old Woodland Ferry, known as the Virginia C., has been postponed, until February.
The vessel, set for auction today, will be sold online sometime in February, said Tina Shockley, of the Delaware Department of Transportation.
The ferry had crossed the Nanticoke River at Woodland, between the Laurel and Seaford areas, for decades. It will be replaced with a new six-car ferry, set to start in the fall.
Details about the auction will be released later, Shockley said.
