Douglas County-based EchoStar Communications Corp. has registered to bid in a multibillion-dollar wireless auction that starts in late January.

EchoStar’s application is listed under an entity called Frontier Wireless LLC.

Three EchoStar officials, including President Carl Vogel, are listed as authorized bidders.

The Federal Communications Commission auction of 700- megahertz spectrum is expected to raise $10 billion.
