Illinois safe deposit box jewelry auction

Illinois started its first-ever online auction for unclaimed jewelry on Sunday, which will run until Dec. 2. The items up for auction can be seen on the treasurer’s web site, www.treasurer.il.gov. Click on the eBay logo on the left side of the main page. The jewelry comes from safe deposit boxes that were abandoned at financial insitutions for at least five years.Illinois says it holds the items in the state vault for several years while trying to find the rightful owners or their heirs.
