Published October 25th, 2007
RM Auctions, in association with Sotheby’s, is expecting to break records at their first ever London sale on October 31, 2007, in Battersea Park. With three exclusive collections for sale, RM founder Rob Myers is confident that the company’s inaugural European sale is sure to turn over more than 15 million pounds worth of classic cars. “Almost 100 cars from three major collections are going to bring the most discerning buyers to London on the 31st of October. We will be showcasing the very best and rarest of European and American automobiles”.
The star of the show alone, Bernie Ecclestone’s 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster, is estimated to bring 3.250.000 to 4.000.000 million pounds (round about 6.5 to 8 million US-$ at the current exchange rate). Another very rare Mercedes-Benz, a 1928 SSK Roadster is estimated to attract bids of 2.5 million pounds (5 million US-$) or more. Collectors will further note the 1935 Mercedes-Benz 500 K Spezial Cabriolet, which RM estimates to bring 1 to 1.5 million pounds (2 to 3 million US-$).
