Bukedea want council relocated instead of cattle market

Rresidents of Bukedea Sub-county have asked authorities to relocate the town council instead of the cattle market. They said they would rather sacrifice the town council but not the cattle market.

Bukedea Auction is the biggest cattle market in East Africa and draws traders from Kenya, Tanzania and within the country. “We would rather not have a town council here, if it is the reason for relocating our market,” Mr James Omuria, a trader said.

Mr Nathan Adome, who claimed the two acre land where the market is located belongs to his ancestral fathers, said they would prefer having the market because it is their only source of income.
