Russo and Steele to continue in Scottsdale

Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions has signed a multiyear contract with the Arizona State Land Department to continue holding its sale near Scottsdale Road and Loop 101, company officials said Tuesday.

The contract had faced opposition earlier this summer from operators of the larger Scottsdale-based Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, whose event is held at WestWorld.

Russo and Steele times its auction about the same time as Barrett-Jackson, which had expressed interest in the land for parking.

Russo and Steele plans to showcase more than 500 cars Jan. 16-20, and Barrett-Jackson plans to auction 1,000 cars during events spanning Jan. 12 through 20.
