Feberge Egg for George Best charity auction
Published September 8th, 2007
An exquisite Fabergé egg will be among many items up for auction this evening in an audacious attempt to raise more than £50,000 for the George Best Foundation.
The auction of Bestie memorabilia forms part of an all-day event organised by the Portavogie Development Group and follows a cross-community football match in the afternoon.
The Genius Egg - a new piece designed by Sarah Fabergé in honour of Northern Ireland’s football legend - will be, however, the collection showpiece, with organisers expecting to attract bids of more than £15,000.
Other memorabilia will include an Ulster Bank £5 note bearing the serial number 010000, a replica pair of gold-plated football boots and signed photographs of the former Red Devil.
Popular U105 radio presenter George Jones will host the auction, which aims to raise the unprecedented £50,000 for the charity.
Details of the egg can be found on www.sportingtributes.com
