Majolica at Strawser Auctions

Published March 30th, 2007

This weekend, Strawser Auctions of Wolcottville, Ind., returns to Pennsylvania for its semiannual Eastern Seaboard sale of majolica - tin-glazed earthenware that lends itself to fanciful shapes - as evidenced by the nearly 1,000 lots to be offered today and tomorrow at Alderfer Auction Center in Hatfield.
A George Jones monkey-shaped marmalade tray is expected to sell for $20,000 to $25,000 at tomorrow’s session, according to Michael Strawser, who has been conducting majolica auctions since 1990
