Illinois Police Auction Rolex Watch

Published February 4th, 2007

A drug bust in Illinois has netted police in Bloomington and Normal a solid gold, diamond-faced Rolex watch worth more than $10,000.

Instead of selling the valuable timepiece locally, police have decided to try their luck on eBay, The Bloomington Pantagraph reports.

“We typically sell (seized items) at the town auction,” says Normal Police Lt. David Warner. “But we didn’t think that was an appropriate place for something of this magnitude.”

Beginning Friday, the watch goes up for auction on eBay with a minimum bid of $10,000.
