John Swan have made an outline planning application to Scottish Borders Council for a new mart and rural centre at St Boswells. The centre, estimated to cost £5 million when details were first revealed this autumn, would include a visitor centre, retail outlet, offices, exhibition hall and restaurant. If the application is successful the firm will move from its present 135-year old St Boswells site to the other side of the A68.
