Cricket memorabilia from the history of the Ashes has gone under the hammer at an auction in Melbourne.
A 1905 scorecard given personally to Australian batsman Victor Trumper, including all the scores from the Australian tour to England, sold for $27,500.
A signed photograph of England captain WG Grace dating back to 1896 fetched $6000.
Shane Gilbert from Charles Leski Auctions said it was part of the largest collection of cricket memorabilia to go to auction.
“It’s probably one of the biggest sporting auctions that Australia has ever seen and all the estimates of this auction value more than a million dollars,” Gilbert said.
“It’s got some of the biggest cricketing memorabilia we’ve ever seen so it is a very important auction.
