Published November 2nd, 2006
The International Dorper Auction currently under way in Upington in the Northern Cape is progressing well, with close to a half a million rand collected at the event so far.
Last year, the highest ram Dorper was auctioned at R400 000. The Dorper is a South African indigenous sheep which the international market is interested in because of its high quality meat and embryos.
The auction has drawn much interest from Southern African Development Countries (SADC) countries and Australia.
