Press Release

Wind River Land and Cattle Company, in Fremont County, sold at auction for $3,410,000 Saturday, Oct. 7, with J.P. King Auction Company managing the sale.

The widely advertised auction of the sprawling 3,128-acre ranch attracted 11 registered bidders from Wyoming, Colorado, California, North Carolina and even Pennsylvania.

“When you get a good spread of bidders like we did, you have to feel good about the job you did getting the word out,” said Craig King, president of J.P. King. “Everybody keeps talking about what a soft real estate market we’re in, but for the right kind of property, we’re finding that our auctions keep attracting strong fields of bidders and getting good results,” he said.

The auction took approximately an hour, as bidders first bid on the property in individual parcels. In a second round of bidding, an offer for the ranch as an entirety topped all bids and eventually ended as the successful offer.

The property, anchored by a luxury home with its own indoor pool, tennis court and theater, also included approximately six miles along the Wind River.

J.P. King, headquartered in Gadsden, Ala., is the nation’s leading auction marketing firm specializing in the sale of ranches, condominiums, luxury homes, developments and other high-value properties. Upcoming sales include lakefront development land on Iowa’s East Lake Okoboji, an 8,500-acre ranch in Gunnison, Colo., and luxury condominiums in Tampa, Fla.
