Christies Star Trek Auction

Published September 26th, 2006

Auction house Christies have announced that they will be running the first ever auction of memorobelia from the Star Trek TV franchise.

The auction coincides with Star Trek’s 40-year anniversary.

On sale will be the Starfleet uniform worn by Captain Kirk, or the Starship Enterprise-A model, considered the Holy Grail among Trekkies everywhere. Public viewing will begin this Saturday at Christie’s in New York and buyers can bid online.

Christie’s director of specialty auctions, Cathy Elkies, said: “Smaller collections have come on the market before, but this is the largest, the only one from studio archives and from all the films and series, and it’s the 40th anniversary…”
