Internet auction site TradeMe enters job market

It launched a new job advertising service called TradeMe Jobs on Tuesday morning. Initially only about 330 jobs were on display.
TradeMe general manager, Sam Morgan, says the site has agreements in place with over 40 of the country’s leading recruitment firms.
Mr Morgan said people have been paying too much for online job advertising and the company “plans to shake things up”.
He expects the new jobs business to emulate the success of TradeMe Property which grew from 1,000 to 25,000 listings in 12 months.
Mr Morgan says casual one-off advertisers will pay $49 for 30 days, one third of the cost of the current leading recruitment site. There is no charge for jobseekers.
TradeMe was bought by Fairfax for $700 million in March.
