Christie’s, the world-famous auction house, has announced today that it will be piloting its new online bidding service, with a view to establishing it as a permanent feature after the six-month trial.
The auction house, which had annual global sales of £3.2 billion in 2005, has said that the technology signals a new era for the industry, with Christie’s Live offering bidders the chance to attend auctions virtually, facilitated by real time video and audio and clear bidding instructions.
Christie’s CEO, Edward Dolman, said: ‘Christie’s Live is the latest step in our innovative strategy to grow our business and the auction market internationally.
