eBay Inc. shares fell to their lowest level in a year Friday, despite optimistic remarks by Chief Executive Meg Whitman at an analyst conference a day earlier.
eBay shares fell $1.62, or nearly 5 percent, to $32.49 in afternoon trading on Nasdaq, after dropping to a new 52-week low of $32.01 earlier in the day.
The San Jose, Calif., company held its annual analyst conference on Thursday, but it provided little news for investors. The subsequent sell-off puts eBay’s shares down 27 percent for the year so far.
