Titanic locket sells for $110,000 in UK auction

A locket that went down with the Titanic and a survivor’s handwritten account of the 1912 disaster fetched a total of $205,000 Cdn in a British auction Saturday.
Helen Churchill Candee’s 36-page description of the ship’s sinking, which fetched the equivalent of $95,000 in the sale, describes how she gave her locket to her friend Edward Kent for safekeeping after the Titanic hit the iceberg that destroyed it.
The locket, which sold for about $110,000, was found in the drowned Kent’s jacket pocket when his body was recovered soon after his death. It contained a picture of her mother.
