Penfold’s Grange wine for auction
Published March 3rd, 2006
A SET of Penfold’s Grange wine will go to auction next week with an estimated sale price of more than $170,000.
Oddbins Wine Auctions said the 47 bottles of the famous drop, dating from 1951 to 1997, would be included in the silent bid auction on March 7.
“We know that there are only a small number of Grange collections out there in the market place but we rarely see a set come in for sale,” said Oddbins director Merrilyn Middleton.
Grange was the brainchild of Penfold’s senior winemaker Max Schubert.
The 2001 vintage will be released in May with prices expected to reach $600 a bottle.
