eBay earnings rise – profit warning

Online auctioneer EBay Inc. beat analyst expectations as earnings rose 36 per cent to $279.2 million US, but also forecast that profit and sales for the year would fall short of estimates. Its shares rose $1.66 to $46.10 US.
