Yakima man sentenced for international eBay fraud

A Yakima man whose fraud scheme ensnared collectors of a popular fantasy card game on four continents has been sentenced to one year and one day in prison.
Mark E. Lande’s victims were as far-flung as Australia and China, although most were in the United States. Having pleaded guilty in federal court to eight counts of wire fraud, his follow-up plea for leniency Thursday fell on deaf ears.
“I’m convinced you’re heading down the wrong road,” U.S. District Judge Lonny Suko told the defendant, who graduated cum laude from Whitworth College, adding, “This was a sophisticated scheme.”
